Travel with 4 Elements Travel to Ireland in Your Way

Ireland isn’t just a destination—it’s a feeling you settle into.

After years of traveling here, what stands out isn’t just the scenery (though it’s unreal). It’s how quickly the pace changes. You slow down. Conversations last longer. A quick stop turns into an hour.

This guide is built from real trips, real routes, and real lessons learned—so you can experience Ireland the right way the first time.

When to go

Shoulder season (May or September) gives you the best version of Ireland

  • May–June: Best balance—green landscapes, fewer crowds
  • September: My personal favorite—great weather, thinner crowds
  • July–August: Long days, but busiest
  • Winter: Quiet, but limited daylight and more closures

My advice: 10 days is the sweet spot

How Long You Need

If you try to do too much, you’ll ruin the experience.

  • 7 days: Dublin + 1 region (west recommended)
  • 10 days (ideal): Full southern loop
  • 14+ days: Add Northern Ireland or go deeper

My Go-To 10-Day Route

Don’t overstay—Dublin is not the main event.

Days 1–2: Dublin

  • Recover from travel
  • Walkable, easy start
  • Highlights:
    • Guinness Storehouse
    • Temple Bar area (go early, not late)
    • Trinity College / Book of Kells

Days 3–5: Galway (with Aran Islands option)

  • Drive across the country (3 hrs)
  • Base yourself in Galway

Do:

  • Explore Latin Quarter
  • Day trip to Cliffs of Moher
  • Optional: Aran Islands (worth it if weather cooperates)

My take: Galway is where Ireland starts to feel like Ireland.

This is the part most people miss—and shouldn’t.

Do:

  • Slea Head Drive (one of the best drives in the world)
  • Stop constantly—views change every 5 minutes
  • Spend evenings in Dingle town pubs

My take: If I had to cut the entire trip down to one place—it’s Dingle.

Days 9–10: Ring of Kerry + Return to Dublin

  • Scenic drive, but more tourist traffic
  • Stop at:
    • Killarney National Park
    • Torc Waterfall

Tip: Drive counter-clockwise to avoid tour buses.

Return to Dublin for departure.
